Michelle Richter Obituary, Death – Regina Educator, Artist and Photographer Dies at 51
Michelle Richter of Regina, Saskatchewan, died peacefully on September 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 51, having been born in Regina on September 17, 1975. Her passing has left family, friends, colleagues, former students and members of the arts community mourning a woman remembered for her creativity, warmth and commitment to others.
Michelle was the first of four children born to Deborah and Larry Richter and grew up to become a devoted daughter, sister and aunt. She remained closely connected to her family throughout her life and treasured the time she spent with her siblings, nieces and nephews.
Her children, Noah and Sophia, were at the heart of Michelle’s life. She encouraged them to embrace creativity, adventure, hard work and individuality while creating meaningful family traditions and finding joy in everyday moments together.
A Life Dedicated to Education and the Arts
Michelle graduated from the Arts Education program at the University of Regina before beginning a teaching career with Regina Catholic Schools. She spent more than two decades working as an educator and was remembered for creating welcoming classrooms where students felt valued and encouraged to explore their creativity.
Her artistic interests extended beyond the classroom. Michelle was a passionate photographer whose work captured important moments for families, including babies, graduations, engagements and weddings. She also maintained a strong connection to the arts throughout her life.
Travel and new experiences were another important part of Michelle’s life. She visited destinations including Vancouver Island, Hawaii, Chicago and Mexico City, sharing many of those experiences with her partner, Jon Bonar.
Michelle was also remembered within the breast cancer community for the encouragement and happiness she brought to others during difficult periods. Her creativity and participation in activities such as belly dancing became part of the memories shared by those who knew her.

Michelle is survived by her children, Noah and Sophia; partner Jon Bonar; parents Deborah and Larry Richter; siblings Scott, Tara and Adam; nieces and nephews; and extended family, friends, colleagues and former students.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church in Regina. A reception will follow, with a private family burial afterward.
In place of flowers, the family has suggested memorial donations to FadaDance or Creative Kids, organizations supporting children and the arts. Donations may also be made through the City of Regina Legacy Tree Program to plant a tree in Michelle’s memory.
Michelle Richter’s legacy will continue through her children, her students, her artwork and photography, and the many people whose lives she touched through education, creativity, friendship and family.
